Benjamin Earl Warrington, Head of the British High Commission in Lahore, visited Gilani House in Multan on the special invitation of Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. During the visit, detailed discussions were held on strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing trade partnerships, and promoting cooperation in the agricultural sector. Member of the National Assembly Syed Ali Qasim Gilani warmly welcomed the British delegation at Gilani House and held a special meeting with the British envoy in his capacity as a leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party. Both sides exchanged views on regional cooperation, bolstering trade ties, and the adoption of modern technology in agriculture.

Prominent members of Multan’s business community, including Khawaja Mohsin, Khawaja Muhammad Hussain, Chaudhry Akram, and former MPA Haider Zaman Qureshi, also attended the meeting. Addressing the gathering, Syed Ali Qasim Gilani emphasized that Multan is not merely a city but a land of saints, with a centuries-old history. He highlighted the region’s identity, rooted in the love, hospitality, and Sufi temperament of its people.

Commending Multan’s cultural heritage, historical significance, and the warmth of its residents, Benjamin Earl Warrington remarked, “The visit to Multan has been immensely pleasant. The weather here and the sincerity of the people have left a lasting impression.” He underscored the potential for British investment in Southern Punjab and reiterated the commitment to expand trade and technical collaboration in the future.

Both sides agreed to deepen ties through trade delegations, industrial cooperation, and cultural linkages. At the conclusion of the event, Syed Ali Qasim Gilani presented the British delegation with a traditional Multani Ajrak, a symbol of the region’s culture. The British representatives described their visit to Multan as both informative and highly enjoyable.
