ISLAMABAD/SUKKUR: Former MPA and PPP leader Sania Kamran, along with the central leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party, left Islamabad for Sukkur to observe the 46th Martyrdom Anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The delegation arrived in Sukkur amidst a grand reception led by Member National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah.

At the event, prominent leaders such as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor Gilgit Syed Mehdi Shah, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Rubina Khalid, Member National Assembly Mian Fathullah, former Federal Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, former National Assembly member and Chairman Sweet Home Zamrad Khan, among others, were present to pay tribute to the legendary leader.

Speaking to a correspondent from Peoples Voice, Sania Kamran said, “Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a truly charismatic and popular leader whose legacy of fighting for the common people of Pakistan continues to inspire even today.” She recalled that April 4 is a dark day in Pakistan’s history, marking the judicial murder of the great public leader in 1979.

Sania Kamran further emphasized Bhutto’s monumental contributions: “He gave us the Constitution of 1973, the first unanimously adopted Constitution, which laid the foundation for a parliamentary, democratic, and federal government. He was the architect of Pakistan’s nuclear program, crucial in safeguarding our sovereignty and security. Under his leadership, Pakistan strengthened its foreign relations with China and other friendly nations. His statesmanship was evident when Pakistan hosted the 1974 Islamic Summit Conference, enhancing unity within the Muslim Ummah.”

She also highlighted Bhutto’s efforts in industrial and technological advancements, noting his role in establishing the Pakistan Steel Mills in Karachi in collaboration with Russian partners and boosting the country’s defense industry. “His land reforms and initiatives for the uplift of workers and laborers not only provided dignity to millions but also set the stage for economic progress. The creation of major public-sector enterprises, expansion in education, health, and infrastructure—along with institutions like Allama Iqbal Open University and a focus on technical education—are testaments to his vision of an inclusive and progressive Pakistan,” she added.

Reiterating Bhutto’s unwavering commitment to democracy, Sania Kamran recalled, “Shaheed Bhutto was a staunch advocate of democracy, standing firmly against dictatorship and oppression. His ultimate sacrifice—choosing the gallows over compromising on his principles—has immortalized him as a beacon of resistance and resilience.”

As the nation observes the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Sania Kamran urged everyone to renew their commitment to his ideals of democracy, equality, and socio-economic justice. “His dream of a progressive, sovereign, and inclusive Pakistan is more relevant today than ever. We must carry forward his mission of building a country where the will of the people reigns supreme and every citizen enjoys equal opportunities,” she stated.

She concluded by affirming, “Under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, we will continue to complete Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s vision for Pakistan.”
