Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari slammed the opposition for its disruptive behavior during President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to the joint session of parliament, stating that their actions suggest a lack of concern for public issues.

Speaking to the media in parliament, Bilawal Bhutto said, “Today, the opposition kept making noise, but the president continued his speech uninterrupted. This was a historic address, as Asif Zardari is the first president to address parliament for the eighth time.”

Bilawal praised the president’s speech, highlighting that he not only acknowledged economic progress but also pointed out key challenges.

He expressed disappointment over the opposition’s “irresponsible and unserious attitude” and accused them of prioritising political point-scoring over addressing public concerns.

“The opposition has no real interest in solving people’s problems. Their only objective is to advance their own political agenda,” Bilawal stated.

The PPP chairman also raised concerns over the federal government’s unilateral decision to divert canals from the Indus River.

He said President Zardari, as a representative of the federation, had cautioned against this move and made it clear that he does not support the policy. “The president has urged the government to abandon this controversial project,” Bilawal added.
