Lahore: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has hailed the recent defense agreement between Pakistan's Prime Minister and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a "milestone in the world," emphasizing the strengthening ties between the two nations during Saudi Arabia's 95th National Day celebrations in Lahore.

Speaking at a ceremony hosted by Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Abdul Maliki at the Governor House Lahore, Khan praised the bilateral defense pact and highlighted the pivotal role played by Pakistan's army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in securing the agreement.

The Punjab Governor described the defense agreement as unprecedented, stating that "aggression against any one country will be considered aggression against both countries." He emphasized that Pakistan has been granted the privilege of defending the Harameen Sharifain (the two holy mosques in Saudi Arabia) due to the professional capabilities of Field Marshal Asim Munir.

"Field Marshal Asim Munir is the only army chief who has proven his capabilities and played a key role in the defense agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan," Khan stated during his address to the gathering.

The Governor highlighted Saudi Arabia's unwavering support for Pakistan during challenging times, noting the Kingdom's assistance during natural disasters including floods and earthquakes. He described Saudi Arabia as a "brotherly Islamic country" whose relationship with Pakistan continues to strengthen daily.

Khan also praised the restoration of the "green passport's" international value, crediting diplomatic efforts and the recent defense agreement for enhancing Pakistan's global standing.

The Governor commended Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's diplomatic leadership, stating that his efforts have "made Pakistan famous all over the world, including Saudi Arabia," contributing to the restored prestige of Pakistani citizenship internationally.

Khan also referenced President Asif Ali Zardari's recent visit to China, expressing confidence that it would prove as beneficial as previous diplomatic engagements. He noted China's historical support during the Indo-Pakistani conflicts, describing both Saudi Arabia and China as crucial allies in Pakistan's foreign policy framework.

The event, marking Saudi Arabia's 95th National Day, saw active participation from Pakistani officials. Governor Khan joined Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Abdul Maliki in traditional Saudi dance performances and received a ceremonial bouquet upon his arrival at the venue.

The ceremony underscored the diplomatic warmth between the two nations, with Khan extending congratulations to the Saudi people on their National Day and reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across defense, economic, and cultural spheres.

The defense agreement represents a significant development in Pakistan-Saudi relations, promising enhanced security cooperation and mutual defense commitments between the two Islamic nations.
