Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Fulfills Promise, Inaugurates Tube Well in Lahore’s Maryam Nishat Colony
LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari honored his commitment to party worker Edwin Sahutra by installing a new tube well for the residents of Maryam Nishat Colony in Lahore. The inauguration ceremony, held at Sajjan Chowk on Sunday, was attended by a large number of PPP leaders and workers, including Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Ali Qasim Gilani, PPP Central Punjab General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza, and other prominent figures such as Atif Rafique Chaudhry, Ahsan Rizvi, Farhat Yasmin, Zeeshan Shami, Hassan Ashraf Bhatti, and Mansha Waqas.
During his address, MNA Ali Qasim Gilani praised Edwin Sahutra for consistently advocating for the rights of the local community. He announced that the tube well, constructed at a cost of Rs. 50 million from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto’s special funds, would be fully operational this month. Additionally, Bilawal Bhutto has approved another tube well worth Rs. 30 million and a pipeline project costing Rs. 21 million. In the next phase, three water filtration plants and road repair work worth Rs. 20 million will also be completed in collaboration with the Walton Cantonment Board.
Gilani further highlighted his commitment to his constituency, stating that the people of Multan had elected him with an overwhelming majority, leading to the approval of Rs. 200 million in development funds for Multan Cantonment. He emphasized that opposition members should not be deprived of resources, as it ultimately harms the public. He also noted that a resolution by PPP MNA Naveed Jeeva to include Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s speeches on minorities in the national curriculum had been unanimously passed.
Syed Hassan Murtaza, General Secretary of PPP Central Punjab, reiterated the party’s dedication to serving the common man and minority communities. He expressed gratitude to the residents of Maryam Nishat Colony for their unwavering support, acknowledging the area as a stronghold of PPP votes in Lahore.
Edwin Sahutra, the host of the event, described the day as a moment of great joy for the local community. He extended his heartfelt thanks to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Syed Hassan Murtaza, and Ali Qasim Gilani for fulfilling their promise. His daughter, Moira Patras, also conveyed her appreciation to the PPP leadership for their efforts in addressing the area’s water needs. The ceremony marked a significant step in improving living conditions for the residents while reinforcing the PPP’s commitment to grassroots development and public welfare.
