Shaheed Benazirabad— In a landmark event underscoring the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to public service and welfare, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari visited Shaheed Benazirabad on Friday to distribute ownership rights certificates to flood-affected families under the Sindh Peoples Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) program.

The ceremony, held at Peoples Medical University, brought together Dr Azra Pechuho, Minister of Health Sindh, local officials, community members, and beneficiaries in a powerful display of solidarity and progress. Addressing the gathering, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari described the moment as a “day of pride for everyone,” marking a significant step forward in the journey toward restoring dignity and stability for thousands displaced by the devastating floods. She said it was ‘a culmination of the vision and hard work of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’. 

“The Pakistan Peoples Party has always stood by and served the distressed segments of society,” she said, reaffirming her party’s enduring pledge to uplift vulnerable communities and ensure their fundamental rights. “Today is not just about handing over documents - it is about restoring hope, security, and a sense of belonging.”

The SPHF initiative, spearheaded by the Sindh government, aims to rebuild lives through permanent housing solutions for those who lost everything to the unprecedented floods. “Over 2.1 million resilient houses are being built, with land titles in the names of the women”, pointed out Aseefa Bhutto Zardari. With Shaheed Benazirabad among the affected districts, today’s distribution is both symbolic and practical, offering real relief to those who have faced displacement, loss, and uncertainty.

The First Lady’s presence added emotional and political weight to the ceremony, resonating deeply with attendees who see the Bhutto legacy as one intertwined with justice, resilience, and compassion.

Today’s event also highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Peoples Government to institutionalize housing as a right, not a privilege, an ethos that lies at the heart of the Peoples Housing Program.
