Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Chief Whip of the Senate and Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance & Revenue, called on Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta. The meeting focused on key issues including economic development, trade challenges in the province, and the implementation of a structured barter trade mechanism.

Senator Mandviwalla emphasized that Balochistan’s strategic location and trade activity are vital to Pakistan’s economy, yet local traders continue to face serious administrative, infrastructural, and security-related hurdles. He urged the provincial government to take practical steps toward facilitating cross-border trade, simplifying customs procedures, and creating a more enabling environment for the business community.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti assured the Senator that the Government of Balochistan is fully aware of the problems faced by traders and is actively working on comprehensive solutions. He reiterated his government’s commitment to promoting legal trade, developing infrastructure, and cooperating closely with federal institutions to support economic growth in the region.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both leaders agreeing that close coordination between the federal and provincial governments is essential to unlock Balochistan’s full economic potential.
