PESHAWAR: Former Member of Punjab Assembly and leader Pakistan Peoples Party Sania Kamran attended a cake-cutting ceremony commemorating Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's 72nd birth anniversary at KP House, Peshawar.

Speaking on the occasion, Sania Kamran said it was an “honor” to remember the life of the first female Prime Minister of the Muslim world, a leader she characterized as “a visionary, a symbol of democracy, and a pioneer for women’s empowerment.”

“On her 72nd birthday, we remember not only the life of an outstanding leader but also the start of a movement challenging profoundly entrenched patriarchy in Pakistan,", Sania Kamran noted.

Underlining Benazir Bhutto's legacy, she stressed that Shaheed BB was far more than a politician; she was a reformer who saw a Pakistan where women would be respected, empowered, and included in every aspect of life.

She lauded Benazir's unrelenting efforts to reverse regressive policies and systemic prejudices by projects affecting women's life.

Among her groundbreaking initiatives, Sania Kamran reckoned the founding of computer training facilities, hostels for working women, Lady Health Workers Program, First Women Bank, and women's studies centers. She further added, her leadership was never symbolic; it was deliberate, based on a strong conviction that no nation can advance with half of its people held back.

Repeating PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's compliment, she referred Shaheed Benazir "an emotional force, a beacon for every Pakistani woman, and a leader whose compassion and courage reshaped national politics."

Sania Kamran concluded by urging citizens to carry forward Shaheed Benaiz Bhutto's work. "Let us honor her memory by speaking truth to power, by opposing injustice, and by building Pakistan where every woman has a voice and a space in all spheres of life."
