Islamabad, June 18: Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in a significant post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, stated that Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, will be meeting former U.S. President Donald Trump over lunch today, terming the engagement a "positive step" in strengthening Pakistan–US relations.

Bilawal highlighted the importance of President Trump’s diplomatic efforts, particularly his role in mediating a ceasefire following the recent five-day conflict in South Asia. He remarked, “This meeting represents a positive step in Pakistan–US relations, especially given the president’s role in mediating a ceasefire.”

Referring to Pakistan’s decisive victory in the short but intense conflict, Bilawal expressed concern over India's approach, stating, “India has regrettably resisted all efforts toward a permanent peace, including US-led diplomacy.”

He reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance on peace, adding, “Pakistan neither seeks conflict nor are we desperate for dialogue. But we do recognize that peace is in both nations’ interests. There is no military solution to our disputes.”

Condemning India's policies, the PPP Chairman pointed out that “India’s weaponization of water, repression in Kashmir, and politicization of terrorism are unsustainable positions.” He emphasized that the only viable path forward is through “honest diplomacy — not denial.”

Bilawal's statement is being seen as a strong diplomatic message, asserting Pakistan’s commitment to peace while highlighting the importance of regional stability and international engagement.
