Bilawal-led delegation meets EU officials, raises concerns over India's aggressive actions

BRUSSELS: A high-level Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with European External Action Service Secretary General Enrique Mora in Brussels, briefing European officials on the global implications of weaponizing international water resources.

According to a statement issued by the embassy, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari provided detailed briefings to European Union leadership on the deteriorating regional security environment in South Asia, particularly in the context of India's recent unilateral actions. The Pakistani delegation expressed serious concerns about aggressive measures taken by India and emphasized that India has attempted to obscure facts through a narrative based on falsehoods.

The delegation also conveyed Pakistan's deep concerns regarding India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistani officials highlighted to European authorities the global implications of weaponizing international water resources, with Bilawal Bhutto stressing that such actions not only threaten the regional ecological system but also endanger the integrity of international principles related to water diplomacy.

Both parties discussed the need to strengthen EU-Pakistan engagement on foreign policy and security matters through existing dialogue and cooperation mechanisms under the European Union's Strategic Engagement Plan. The meeting underscored Pakistan's efforts to garner international support regarding regional water disputes and security challenges in South Asia.

The delegation's visit to Brussels represents part of Pakistan's diplomatic efforts to raise awareness among European partners about what it characterizes as India's destabilizing actions in the region, particularly concerning shared water resources that affect millions of people across both nations.
