Lahore (PR) — The Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) has strongly condemned the alleged misconduct and inappropriate humor targeting senior journalists during the Eid special show hosted by Kamran Shahid on Dunya News. The union termed the behavior as "insulting" and a "humiliation" of respected media figures under the guise of a comedy segment.

According to a statement issued by PUJ, the segment in question featured senior journalists including Suhail Warraich and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, who were subjected to what the union described as "disrespectful and low-grade jokes." The PUJ held Kamran Shahid, the show’s host, the producer of the program, and actress Fiza Ali — who allegedly made the offensive remarks — responsible for the incident.

PUJ President Naeem Hanif, General Secretary Qamar-ul-Zaman Bhatti, Senior Vice President Yousaf Raza Abbasi, Vice President Nadeem Zaeem, Joint Secretary Mudassar Hussain Tatla, Sher Ali Khalti, Treasurer Naseem Qureshi, and the Executive Council expressed their outrage in a joint statement. They noted that while comedy segments are a common feature of entertainment shows globally, no show resorts to the kind of personal attacks and ridicule that were witnessed in this particular Eid special.

President Naeem Hanif emphasized that talk shows traditionally honor their guests, but in this case, a female entertainment industry figure was allowed to publicly humiliate senior journalists under a scripted comedy act. He pointed out that the actress appeared to deliberately insult the guests, suggesting the segment was pre-planned.

PUJ demanded a formal apology from the Dunya News management, host Kamran Shahid, the program producer, and actress/host Fiza Ali. General Secretary Qamar-ul-Zaman Bhatti warned that if an apology is not issued, PUJ would stage a strong protest outside Dunya News headquarters.
