Islamabad (Staff Reporter) — Malaika S. Raza, General Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Human Rights Cell, has issued a strong condemnation of the baton charge and shelling carried out by the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government against peaceful PPP demonstrators in Peshawar.
In a firm statement, Malaika Raza denounced the use of force on unarmed protesters, stating, "Violence against women and unarmed demonstrators is a gross violation of basic human rights and cannot be justified under any circumstances. Shame on those responsible for this brutality."
She emphasized that such oppressive tactics have no place in a democratic society and called for accountability for those involved in ordering and executing the violent crackdown.
"This is not just an attack on the PPP, it is an attack on democratic freedoms and the constitutional right to peaceful protest," she added.
Malaika Raza called upon civil society, human rights organizations, and the public to raise their voice against the increasing use of force against dissent and urged the government to immediately halt such actions and ensure protection of citizens’ rights, especially women activists participating in democratic movements.
