CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif to Increase Number of Honahar Scholarships from Next Year
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Accorded Warm Welcome in Sargodha University
Lahore: In her speech at the Laptop and Honahar Scholarship distribution ceremony at the University of Sargodha, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced to further increase the number of meritorious scholarships from next year. She also announced to establish charging stations for students' electric bikes, besides building AI and computer labs in 6,000 government schools, and 50,000 new classrooms in Government schools across the province. She vowed to provide chairs, desks and other furniture in all government schools.
Chief Minister directed students to use their right to freedom of expression responsibly, and to verify every news before spreading it further. She noted,"What a political party did on May 9, terrorists and enemies do the same." She said,"There can be disagreement with the personalities, but not with the country." She added,"I want to see students of government schools equal, if not superior, to private schools. My desire is to see every boy and girl of Punjab progress."
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,"After educating the students, we will provide them resources for self-employment." She said,"Becoming a Chief Minister is easy, but serving the people is a hard task. The purpose of becoming a CM is not to sit in cars and enjoy protocol but to serve them." She underscored,"I tell children never to take a step against the motherland, and avoid becoming fuel of sedition and riots, and not to let the country suffer and be ashamed of."
Chief Minister said,"The same Air Force that was attacked on 09 May, made us safe and proud by shooting down 05 enemy planes. The same uniformed personnels whose uniforms were pinned on poles on that day, protected our country." She added,"I want to see pens and laptops instead of guns in the hands of students." She flagged,"I am with Pakistan, not with those who cause sedition and riots. I will take every step to make the future of students bright in the next four years, this is my promise."
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,"Punjab had resources earlier too, there was money too, but now money is being spent on people, it is not going into the pockets." She added,"One has to work hard to make bread cheap. The hard work of the Provincial Education Minister is visible everywhere." She congratulated Rana Sikander Hayat, Secretary Higher Education and their entire team for materialising her dreams.
Earlier, the students accorded a warm reception to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif upon her arrival to attend the laptop and Honhaar Scholarship Scheme ceremony at the University of Sargodha. The students stood up, applauded and raised welcome slogans in her honour. The Chief Minister distributed laptops among the students. She also met the assembly members and ticket-holders. A female student, while talking to the Chief Minister, expressed her desire that she wants to become CM when she grows up, on which the Chief Minister said Ameen.
The Chief Minister on the request of the students sang the national anthem. She congratulated the students on achieving success in Operation ‘Bunyan-un-Marsus’. The students enthusiastically welcomed the honour of attaining victory against the enemy by raising slogans. The Chief Minister expressed her affection to the students who recited the Holy Quran and presented Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool (SAW).
She paid tribute to the students for presenting a wonderful song. She called the students who presented the song on the stage and took a selfie with them. The students presented portraits to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. A beautiful model of an educational building built in 1929 was presented to the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The Chief Minister expressed her profound happiness over coming to know about the University of Sargodha getting a rank equal to LUMS. A smartly turnout contingent of Sargodha Police saluted the students at the ceremony. The students expressed their impressions about the Honhaar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme. The Chief Minister went on stage and hugged a student at on her student.
A special documentary about the Laptop and Honhaar Scholarship Scheme was also presented at the ceremony. 2983 laptops and 2491 Honhaar scholarships were given to students of Sargodha Division. 2587 laptops and 1975 Honhaar scholarships were given to public universities. 93 students of medical colleges in Sargodha Division got laptops and 55 students got scholarships. 303 students of colleges in Sargodha Division will get laptops and 461 students will get Honhaar scholarships.
