PPP's Nadeem Afzal Chan Advocates National Unity, Questions Imran Khan's Absence from Crucial Meeting
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Nadeem Afzal Chan, alongside provincial president Syed Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha and information secretary Amjad Afridi, addressed a press conference at the Peoples Secretariat, stressing the need for political unity while raising concerns over former Prime Minister Imran Khan's absence from a key meeting during his tenure.
Chan asserted that he does not support issuing "certificates of patriotism" to anyone and pointed out that while all political parties had agreed on the National Action Plan under Khan's government, the former premier himself chose not to attend the critical session. He emphasized that Pakistan's current challenges demand political solidarity, urging all stakeholders to prioritize national interests over partisan agendas. The PPP leader reiterated his party's longstanding commitment to placing the country's welfare above personal or political gains.
Highlighting the need for consensus-driven governance, Chan stated that only unity and mutual understanding could steer Pakistan toward stability and progress. He called upon political forces to set aside differences and collaborate to address pressing national issues. Other provincial leaders present at the conference echoed similar sentiments, urging the current government to engage all political parties in meaningful dialogue to resolve public concerns without delay.
The PPP leadership also reaffirmed its stance against extremism and sectarianism, pledging to work toward peace and stability. Chan appealed to the public to reject divisive politics and instead contribute positively to the nation's development, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in overcoming Pakistan's challenges.
