Islamabad, 21 May 2025: Chairman Bilawal Ali Bhutto as the head of the diplomatic delegation which will visit the capitals of different major countries of the world gave a media talk about the purpose of this visit.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized that Pakistan’s position remains clear: we want not just in the region, but across the world. However, peace cannot be achieved without addressing long-standing flashpoints such as the Kashmir dispute and the scourge of terrorism, which has impacted Pakistan more than any other country in the world. Our commitment is to eliminate terrorism completely.
He reminded the world that we recently witnessed a dangerous war between two nuclear- countries following a terrorist incident. This clearly underscores the urgent need to resolve such core issues peacefully. Chairman Bilawal further stated that India's use of water as a weapon is deeply troubling and must be brought to the world’s attention. “India is standing on a weak wicket by attempting to weaponize water,” he said. Drawing a parallel, he noted that the world has already condemned Israel for weaponizing food in Gaza and Palestine.
Chairman Bilawal warned that if the Kashmir issue remains unresolved and water becomes another flashpoint, future generations in both Pakistan and India may find themselves locked in a far more dangerous and tragic conflict. “It is unfortunate that since 1947, the two countries have been at odds over Kashmir. We must not let water become the next cause of war,” he said.
He elaborated on Pakistan’s broader diplomatic agenda, stating, “We will take our message to governments, parliamentarians, media, civil society and most importantly, to the people of the world. When two nuclear powers are at war, the consequences are never limited to them alone rather the whole world is affected.”
Chairman Bilawal thanked the Foreign Office for their comprehensive briefing and congratulated them for playing a proactive and responsible role during this recent crisis. “As we engage globally, we will present the truth and Pakistan’s peaceful intent. This decision to send delegations abroad to present Pakistan’s perspective is a step in the right direction.”
He recalled that when India levelled false accusations against Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had promptly offered an impartial, international inquiry, an offer India refused because its narrative was built on falsehoods. “During this conflict, Pakistan did not act as an aggressor, we simply defended ourselves, and we did so responsibly.”
Chairman Bilawal pointed out that this is not merely a bilateral issue. The international community and global media have acknowledged Pakistan’s responsible conduct. “We are on the side of truth and peace, while India continues to spread propaganda rooted in hate and division,” he said.
Chairman Bilawal said, “This path of hostility is not sustainable. What you are calling the ‘new normal’ cannot be accepted. The people of Pakistan and I believe, the majority of Indians want peace. But peace is not possible without resolving the Kashmir issue, tackling terrorism, and addressing the water crisis.”
He concluded on a hopeful note: “I believe the future generations of Pakistan and India will ultimately choose truth and peace. Pakistan stands ready for dialogue. It is time for India to do the same.”
