Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind on Saturday to discuss pressing national issues, including security, foreign affairs, and the political landscape. The meeting also included Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, highlighting the significance of the discussions.  

During the briefing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif provided Nawaz Sharif with a detailed update on the ongoing Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, national security challenges, and measures to ensure national unity. He also shared insights from his recent engagements with foreign leaders and delegations, emphasizing Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts on the global stage.  

Praising the armed forces and the public for their unwavering resolve, Shehbaz Sharif stated that the courage and unity displayed by the nation in the face of adversity have set a historic precedent. He remarked that the people’s resilience has become a defining chapter in Pakistan’s military history, showcasing their ability to confront challenges with strategic brilliance.  

The prime minister also addressed India’s reluctance to investigate the Pahalgam incident, accusing Indian authorities of making baseless allegations while evading accountability. He commended the bravery of Pakistani soldiers, whose swift and decisive actions, he said, had etched an unforgettable moment in history, earning recognition from allies and adversaries alike.  

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the combined strength of Pakistan’s military and its citizens had not only thwarted external threats but also elevated the country’s global standing. He reiterated that the nation stood firmly behind its armed forces, reinforcing a united front against any aggression.  

On the economic front, the prime minister informed Nawaz Sharif about the successful disbursement of a $1 billion loan installment from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), despite India’s attempts to obstruct the process. Following a thorough review of Pakistan’s economic performance, the IMF endorsed the release of the funds, signaling confidence in the country’s financial stability. 

Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism about Pakistan’s economic trajectory, noting that the government is collaborating closely with the IMF to finalize the upcoming budget. He revealed that the budgetary targets for the fiscal year 2025-26 would be established through mutual consultations to ensure sustainable growth and public welfare.  

Concluding the meeting, Nawaz Sharif directed the prime minister to take decisive measures to further alleviate public hardships. He acknowledged Pakistan’s advancements across various sectors and stressed the need for continued efforts to enhance the well-being of the people.
