Massive Rs. 40 Billion Corruption Scandal in Kohistan! PPP Accuses Finance Department of Deliberate Oversight Lapses
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Parliamentary Leader MPA Ahmed Karim Kundi launched a scathing critique during a Public Accounts Committee meeting regarding the alleged Rs. 40 billion financial corruption in Kohistan district. He accused the Finance Department of intentionally creating a financial pool that lacked effective oversight. "We are closing in on the culprits," Kundi declared, demanding accountability. "Who was the District Accounts Officer in Kohistan at the time? Who was the Divisional Accounts Officer? And which SDO authorized these checks?" He raised concerns over suspicious motives behind the pool's creation, alleging that retention funds from all departments were deliberately merged instead of being kept separate, facilitating embezzlement.
Meanwhile, PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha condemned the massive corruption scandal, stating that the PTI-led provincial government has "broken all previous records of graft." He asserted that such large-scale embezzlement in a single district exposes the current administration as not only incompetent but also complicit in corruption.
Bacha called for public action, urging citizens to join a protest outside the Provincial Assembly on **May 26, 2025, at 2 PM**, organized under PPP’s *"Save the Province Campaign."* The demonstration aims to mobilize public resistance against corruption and demand accountability. "Only through collective action can we fight this injustice," Bacha emphasized, framing the protest as a crucial step toward securing the province’s future and establishing transparent governance.
