RAWALPINDI: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry affirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces have lived up to the nation’s expectations in responding to recent Indian aggression. During a detailed media briefing on Sunday, he categorically denied reports that Pakistan had sought a ceasefire, emphasizing that it was India that requested de-escalation following Pakistan’s decisive military retaliation.

“Let me put it on record: Pakistan never requested a ceasefire,” stated DG ISPR Chaudhry. “On the night of May 6 and 7, after India carried out dastardly and cowardly attacks, they requested a ceasefire. Pakistan gave a clear response—that we would communicate back only after delivering the retaliation this act deserved,” he added.

The military spokesperson was referring to **Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos**, Pakistan’s swift and calculated response to Indian strikes, which targeted key military installations in Indian-occupied Kashmir and mainland India. The operation was launched after Indian forces attacked three Pakistani airbases—Nur Khan, Shorkot, and Murid—resulting in civilian casualties, including women, children, and the elderly.

At the outset of the briefing, DG ISPR Chaudhry expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet for their “destiny-changing decision” that enabled Pakistan to avenge the lives lost in the Indian strikes. He also commended the nation for its unwavering moral support, which he described as a “force multiplier” for the armed forces during the crisis. Additionally, he praised the Pakistani media for its responsible coverage, contrasting it with what he called the “war-mongering” Indian media, which he accused of fueling jingoism.

Detailing Pakistan’s military response, Chaudhry revealed that **26 Indian military sites** were struck, including the **neutralization of the S-400 air defense system** at two locations—a significant blow to India’s defense capabilities, given the system’s $1.5 billion cost. He reiterated Pakistan’s stance that any breach of sovereignty would be met with a **“retributive and decisive”** response.

Vice Admiral Rab Nawaz highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s role in defending the country’s maritime borders against a “numerically superior enemy,” emphasizing that the force remains in a state of perpetual readiness. “For us, the transition from peace to war is not only swift—it is invisible,” he stated.

Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb, speaking on the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) operations, noted that the response was executed at a **“time and place of our choosing,”** reflecting the military leadership’s resolute strategy. He credited the clarity of command for the operation’s success, stating, “The leadership was resolute and clear in giving instructions, which is why we were so sure of our actions.”

Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes, carried out in the early hours of Saturday, targeted several high-value Indian installations, including the **Brahmos missile depot in Beas, Pathankot airfield, and Adampur airbase**. A hypersonic missile fired from a **JF-17 Thunder** jet also destroyed an **S-400 system in Udhampur**, dealing a major strategic and financial blow to India.

Later in the day, **US President Donald Trump** announced that both countries had agreed to a ceasefire following **“a long night of talks mediated by the United States.”** In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump stated, *“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that Pakistan and India have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.”*

The nation observed **‘Youm-e-Tashakur’** (Day of Thanks) to celebrate the success of **Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos**, reflecting widespread public support for the military’s actions. The armed forces reiterated their commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty with full force against any future aggression.
